Nevron's suite consists of three main components. They are
as follows:
1) Nevron Chart for .NET (Windows Forms and ASP.NET)
This is the charting component of the suite. Functionality
is available for a Windows environment and an ASP.NET environment. Nevron has
really gone above and beyond here with the available chart types. As an
intern, I have not yet done a lot of work with charting and can honestly say
that I do not even know what some of these charts would be used for (This is
not a negative statement- I know they all have a function!).
I worked extensively with simple chart types in a web based
environment to get a feel for how to programmatically create these charts and
access their various attributes and properties. I worked mainly with a smooth
line chart and toyed around with various ways to customize its look and feel
through C# code. I also looked at the various methods of data population and
it seems that Nevron has included just about any method of data population a
developer may need.
Wizards are included for data population and for creating
the appearance and attributes of your chart. These wizards work well and are
fairly simple to understand. There is a definite learning curve, especially if
someone using this program is relatively new to using charting utilities, but
you can take faith in the fact that Nevron's documentation is very handy, well
thought out and easy to use should you run into any problems. They also offer
support packages that can be purchased to go along with your copy of the
program. In my experience, support representatives have been helpful and have
responded to questions in a timely manner.
Another thing about these charts that should be mentioned is
that they look really great; it is easy to create an extremely attractive
chart. Nevron has also gone so far as to include 3-D support, thus allowing
users to make charts that are 3-Dimensional and can be grabbed and rotated. They
look really great; I actually cannot wait until I get an opportunity to use
them here at work.
2) Nevron Diagram for .NET
This is fairly self explanatory. This part of Nevron's
suite includes diagramming functionality that is just as powerful as the
charting. These diagrams, like the charts, can be used in Windows Forms or ASP.NET.
Again, these are very attractive components; users can create trees, flow
charts, organizational charts, science diagrams and much more. Just download
the trial version and look at the examples. There is a lot of very nice stuff
to work with here.
3) Nevron User Interface for .NET
User interfaces are not my area of expertise and I did not
go too in depth with evaluating this portion of the suite. However, even from
just looking at the examples provided, it is clear that Nevron has gone just as
in depth in terms of functionality with their user interface solutions. They
have included a lot here; some of the highlights being docking panels, command
bars, customizable progress bars and scroll bars, tabbing functionality and a
very attractive and customizable tree view control.
I look forward to implementing Nevron's UI features in
future applications. If programming these is as easy as it was to work with
their charts, then I will not be complaining any time soon.
