In September 2005, Addison Wesley published a book which was
a result of the contributions of many famous names in the .NET world and could
become a popular book for professional .NET developers in a short while. That
book is Framework Design Guidelines written by Krzysztof
Cwalina and Brad Abrams, two vital members of the Common Language Runtime and
the .NET Framework teams at Microsoft.
The main purpose of this book is to provide a collection of
guidelines for .NET developers and to show them how they can write their
programming codes and design their APIs to achieve the best results based on
the .NET Framework capabilities and features.
This book does not want to step into programming details so
you do not see many code samples. Instead of showing these code snippets, the
book consists of various guides that are listed with short descriptions by
authors and other developers have added their comments and thoughts about each
guide.
There are four kinds of guides in this book: DO, CONSIDER,
DO NOT and AVOID. Each guide in this book falls into one of these categories.
Framework Design Guidelines can be
a part of the TO READ list for all professional .NET developers who are going
to design a framework or a simple library. It contains 9 chapters and three
appendixes.
There is a DVD available with this book which contains a rich
collection of sample codes and some related presentations on topics that are
covered in this book.
