Inside the Book

The chapters in section 1 provide a brief introduction to Visual Studio 2010 with the steps required to develop a sample Windows Forms application. Section 2 examines the usage of numeric, string, data, control structures, methods, event handlers, exception, data validation, arrays, collections, dates and strings.

The author also provides coverage of the steps required to debug an application including some of the advanced tips and tricks. Section 3 examines the core aspects of object oriented programming such as usage of classes, indexers, delegates, events, operators, inheritance, interfaces, generics with special reference to organizing and documenter classes.

Section 4 provides a detailed overview of database programming including the usage of data sources, datasets, bound controls, parameterized queries. This section also provides the required steps to write your own data access code using ADO.NET.

The final section deeply examines the usage of files, data streams, XML, LINQ, tips required to enhance the user interface and also examines the relevant steps to deploy a C# application.

I would prefer to see few multiple choice questions at the end of each chapter. The author has followed a uniform layout and same writing style in all chapters with supported screenshots and exercises, which I hope will be useful for students undergoing C# training.

I feel that each programmer will have their own taste and interest. Hence, it is difficult for me to tell you whether Murach C# 2010 will be useful for you. However, you can download sample chapters and source codes from the website of the publisher. Moreover, instructors can also order a CD which contains test banks, projects, PowerPoint slides from the website. I feel that these materials will surely help them to deliver classes without any difficulty.
